Such a common thing as dining is a worldwide practice, that even when the final purpose is the same, is actually acomplished in many ways relying on the culture. Below are going to be compared the diferences and similarities, in case that there are, between the dining etiquete of Algeria and Colombia.

Algerians usually eat with their hands (right hand) except for couscous that is eaten with tablespoon and stew that is eaten with fork. For sure you will be prompted to take more so make sure that you leave a bit of food on your dish when you are done. The most common manner to eat is on the floor on a mat or in a low table so be aware if is necessary to remove your shoes when you arrive.
In the other hand, Colombians always wait for the host to be seated and the dinner will start when he say “buen provecho”. Almost all of the food is eaten with utensils. Also make sure that hans are always visible and do not rest elbows on the table. Finally, is polite to try everything and leave a small amount of food on the plate when you finish.
In conclusion, the principal similarity is that in both cultures is well seen to leave food on the plate when the act is finish. And the biggest differences are that while Algerians eat with the hands, Colombians eat with utensils. And that while Algerians eat usually on the floor, Colombians always eat on a table. No matter the culture you are, always remember that the key to be be respectful, is following others.
